About Tobacco Free Florida Phone Quit
The third treatment of the Promote UP study is referral to the Tobacco Free Florida Phone Quit program, the current standard of care in Florida. Participants in this arm will be contacted by a Tobacco Free Florida quit coach with 48 hours after enrollment.
Quit coaches talk you through creating your quit plan to become smoke-free.
What is the Phone Quit Program?
Tobacco Free Florida’s Phone Quit program offers personal support, tools, and services via a your phone and an online dashboard to help you quit smoking. This includes:
- 3 one-on-one sessions with a coach via phone, text, or chat
- Unlimited inbound support via phone, text, or chat
- Automated texting support
- Online access to a dashboard
- 4-week supply of nicotine patches, gum, or lozenges
The Quitline will call you up to five times and offer to enroll you in the program. You will receive a call within 1-2 days after you’ve been referred by your provider. The caller ID for the Quitline should read “Tobacco Free FL” on your phone. It may also read “1800QUITNOW”, or may show up as an unknown number or spam. If you don’t hear from the Quitline, you can always call them at 1-877-U-CAN-NOW (1-877-822-6669).
What should participants in the Phone Quit program expect?
If you are enrolled in the Phone Quit program you will be referred to the Phone Quit program that day. Once this referral is received, a Tobacco Free Florida quit coach will call you during the time window you indicated to the research team within the next 48 hours. From their, a quit coach will talk you through creating your quit plan to become smoke-free.
